happy autumn equinox, friends! new season new season new season! yippee! how are yāall dealing with the change?
now that iām off spotify (ripā¦ everythingās so fuckedā¦), this is me trying to do something about my playlists ig. i miss the virtual mess i left there on my account, piled up since literally middle school. i miss my folder system, wading through the spectrum of all those half-finished, ever-growing, and precisely-catalogued mixes. i miss picking a cover photo and watching it shrink into the size of the nail on my thumb. and also youtube ui is just so... unsexy..
one of my favorite parts of making playlists on spotify is seeing the date on which i added a song. i like seeing the evolution of a particular summer/fall/winter/spring, not just through the songs iāve chosen but also through the more mundane, straightforwardness of the numbers behind the months and days in which i have added a memory. sometimes iāll come across a song months later and realize āo that was such a 2024 summer songā or āo i forgot, i listened to that so much last winter.ā i like being able to see when i felt like i was really in a given season - and how sometimes that can come way later.
instead of letting this summer continue to indefinitely dribble out a playlist, this is me trying to mark the end of a season. iām writing this fully in mid-september. the late nights and early mornings are chilly, there are sparrows migrating in the evening sky, and it is definitively not summer. but i don't want to forget these songs! so iāve put them away - for me, for whoever stumbles across this post - into this youtube :p playlist. in the spirit of documenting, habits and cycles, time travel, and music that makes u feel good :)
the first half/most of this playlist is really just music i neeeeded to daaance to, mooove to. i really like the lyrics in this song and in this song and this song captures so many of the weird feelings i feel about seoul. this song isn't on youtube. the last five songs of the playlist ( ė¹ė ¤ģØ ź³ ģģ“, as long as ropes unravel fake rolex will travel, Talk to Me Nice, MY TYPE, and Only Love Can Break Your Heart)is a good 20 minute chunk you should listen to in order. spotify 10 second cross fade used to do the trick but mb now i need to learn how to actually mix tracksā¦
again, it is very much not summer right now. i nearly pulled a muscle, tryna remember and reflect how the songs on this playlist made me feel literal months ago now. here are some songs i'm actually enjoying now that it's fall.
